Enroute to Dunwich, North Stradbroke Island – my first “overseas” flight

Hello. I started this blog in 2015 after obtaining my private pilot licence. The idea was to record our experiences as I improved my aviating skills and gained more experience and flew to interesting destinations around Australia (and elsewhere). I wanted to provide information on various places we fly to so we could share them with other general aviation pilots and friends and family and hopefully inspire others to do likewise. A private pilot licence allows you to travel to far flung destinations all around Australia. Flying really is the best way to explore this great land of ours. Sure there are cheap flights to get to the capital cities and key tourist resorts but what about the places that are off the beaten track and that you’d need weeks to get to by road? My aim was, and still is, to fly there in comfort and safety and open up the vastness of Australia to family and friends around the world. Ten years later I think this has been largely achieved and as we continue to expand our horizons it provides me with great pleasure to read our stories from those early days. I hope you enjoy reading them too. If you have any questions about any of the stories please email me at philipscottarthur@gmail.com. I don’t check the blog for comments so may miss any attempts to contact me through the blog. Philip
